CCN1 – Core Gas Safety
While undertaking this course, you will carry out a mix of theory learning, hands-on training and practical assessments based on the competencies listed below. Once this is complete you can move on to other elements such as CENWAT – Central heating boilers & water heaters, CKR1- cookers, HTR1- Fires and many others. You can then also carry out the changeover to LPG.

CPA1 – Flue Gas Analysers
This course covers what you’ll need to know to use a flue gas analyser for installation, servicing & repair work. This qualification is now incorporated in CENWAT and does not need to be taken as a separate qualification.
The CENWAT course aims to extend a gas engineer’s scope of work to include the installation, service and maintenance of domestic gas fired central heating boilers/hot water circulators and domestic gas fired instantaneous water heaters.
CKR1 – Gas Cookers
The CKR1 course is for gas engineers to add to their skill set in the area of domestic cooking appliances. The course consists of service, repair, breakdown and commission of Free standing and slide in cookers, Built-in hotplates & Built-in / under ovens and grill units.
HTR1 – Gas Fires & Heaters
This course covers installation, maintenance, breakdown repair and the disconnection of gas fires, wall heaters, open flued gas fires (radiant/convector), Open flued inset live fuel effect gas fires (ILFE), open flued decorative fuel effect gas fires (DFE), balanced flued gas fires, balanced fan assisted wall heaters. From 2012 CPA1 is mandatory with this course.
MET1 – Gas Meters
The Gas Meters course will teach you everything you need to know about installing, exchanging, removing and commissioning domestic gas meters.
CMDDA1 – Carbon Monoxide/Dioxide Atmosphere & Appliance Testing
This assessment is to test the competence of a gas engineer in checking ambient levels of CO and presence of CO2 in residences and identifying the cause of fumes using a portable electronic combustion analyser. This will be any engineer who responds to the report of a CO alarm being activated or a report of fumes.
Prerequisites: CCN1 + CPA1
